# Getting Started with Personal Rooms

> Administrators can request a Personal Rooms instance, which gives instructors a front end for BigBlueButton outside the LMS.

Personal Rooms is a front end that lets your instructors use BigBlueButton outside your institution's Learning Management System (LMS). This article covers [what Personal Rooms does](#what-personal-rooms-does), [what we need from you](#what-we-need-from-you), [how to request it](#request-personal-rooms), and [what to set up next](#next-steps).

## What Personal Rooms does

Personal Rooms gives instructors what they need to run and manage BigBlueButton sessions on their own:

* Sign up and sign in with Office 365 or Google.
* Manage account settings and user preferences.
* Create and manage their own personal rooms.
* Let users wait for a room to start, then join automatically when it does.
* Invite others to a room with a simple URL.
* View recordings and share them with others.

To see how it works, try Personal Rooms at [my.bigbluebutton.com](https://my.bigbluebutton.com).

<Note>
  Personal Rooms sessions count toward your purchased concurrent session capacity. If an instructor has a Personal Room active while another instructor is using BigBlueButton in your LMS, that counts as two concurrent sessions.
</Note>

## What we need from you

To set up a Personal Rooms instance, we configure an authentication method for your account. Personal Rooms supports:

* [Google OAuth2](/docs/help/getting-started/google-oauth2)
* [Office 365 OAuth2](/docs/help/getting-started/office-365-oauth2)
* [SAML](/docs/help/getting-started/saml-auth)
* [In Application Authorization](/docs/help/getting-started/in-application-authorization)

Choose the method your institution uses, then send a request to [support@blindsidenetworks.com](mailto:support@blindsidenetworks.com) with:

1. The parameters that method requires — see the linked page for details.
2. The name and email address of the person at your organization to set up as your Personal Rooms administrator.

## Request Personal Rooms

If you are not a hosted customer of Blindside Networks and would like to use Personal Rooms, contact your account manager or email [team@blindsidenetworks.com](mailto:team@blindsidenetworks.com).

## Next steps

Once your instance is set up, configure it from the Administrator Panel:

* [Access the Administrator Panel](/docs/help/personal-rooms/admin/accessing-the-administrator-panel) — find the Manage Users, Server Recordings, Site Settings, and Roles menus.
* [Manage users](/docs/help/personal-rooms/admin/managing-users) — view, search, edit, and ban user accounts.
* [Site settings](/docs/help/personal-rooms/admin/site-settings) — set branding, registration methods, and default recording visibility.
* [Manage recordings](/docs/help/personal-rooms/admin/managing-recordings) — view, rename, and delete recordings across your instance.
