# How long will recordings appear in Canvas?

> Canvas Conferences BigBlueButton Essentials recordings expire after 7 days by default; you can upgrade to permanent, downloadable recordings.

By default, Canvas Conferences BigBlueButton Essentials recordings expire after 7 days.

To keep recordings past 7 days, contact your Canvas representative to upgrade to permanent and downloadable recordings.
