# Recording defaults

> Set the default recording behavior for BigBlueButton activities on your Moodle site.

BigBlueButton activities can be enabled to provide recording during live sessions. Administrators can control the defaults that teachers see when they create new activities.

## Common defaults

Recording defaults may include:

* whether sessions can be recorded by default
* how recordings are displayed in the activity
* whether recordings from deleted activities are included
* whether imported recordings are shown

## Why this matters

These defaults shape the teacher experience and reduce the need to configure the same recording behavior repeatedly in every course.
