Hearing Accessibility

Closed Captions

Moderators can enable live closed captions for participants who are deaf or hard of hearing.

• Speaker setup: Each user can caption their own audio when joining the session.
• Viewer experience: Once anyone has captions enabled, participants can toggle captions on or off with the CC button.

Browser-Based Speech Recognition

BigBlueButton supports your browser’s built-in speech recognition for automatic captioning:

• Chrome’s built-in captioning: Use Chrome’s Live Caption feature for real-time transcription. See Using Chrome’s Built-in Closed Captioning.
